Tools of the trade by Heliocyan Tools of the trade by Heliocyan
I was asked to take a photo of the art materials I use: Here they are, my tools of the trade. Most of it, anyway....and yet, I still feel I need more every time I set foot into an art shop. :)

If you replace all the pencils and paints with beads and the brushes with pliers and wire cutters, then this is exactly what my desk looks like also. :XD:

Nice. All pretty and neatly arranged... if I had to shoot mine, they would look like last week's dishes.

Just
delicious picture, watercolours look like candies.))))
The books look so beautiful! If I had something like it, I probably would never draw in them - the are too awesome. x)
And you are now the second artist I know, who packing the color pencils in pots like these (the first was
David Borovsky.)))
I like how the pots are fit to each color.))

I'm rather in love with those note/sketchbooks with the metal clasps. Want!

Oh, the are amazing, aren't they?? Those are paperblanks! And every year they bring out more designs. I have been interviewed by them after they saw this photo of mine on Twitter, I was so excited!

It's not published yet, but do have a look on their website anyway for more mouth-watering sketchbooks: paperblanks.com/uk/en/

Ooh yes I know Paperblanks! I have a couple of their books - though I've never seen the ones with clasps. I'll have to keep a closer look out for them!

Congrats on the interview! What fantastic luck!

Oh, that was only for the photo. I needed a photo of all my work materials for the booklet I published.
It only takes 5 minutes and it looks like utter chaos again! I'm good at chaos at work. ;)

That's an impressive spectrum of quality and interesting medias and tools! And so very smart looking with those neat pots and jars.

I too have the hoarding desire and inability to resist buying more when I go into art shops, not that I do much with the materials anymore.

Quite agree, Sahasa.  Especially if it's well organized. And if they have their favorite artwork surrounding them on their walls. Makes me want to go and rearrange and reorganize my work area.  But I like photos of them too  Even have a Deviant folder with Favorites.

Impressive stock, Heliocyan!

Those watercolours are Japanese watercolours by Kuretake. I absolutely love them!!! They are so vibrant, and you can use them as watercolours, or, if you mix them with less water, like gouache. I bought mine in Japan, but you can get them on Amazon as well: www.amazon.co.uk/Kuretake-Gans…

Please do! I painted those pots myself by the way, they are just ordinary terracotta plant pots from a garden centre.

The only problem is the colour pencils fade slightly when they are for too long in the sunlight, but as soon as you sharpen them again, they are fine. :)
