Finally finished the tiger.... The vivid colours make it look quite dramatic, that wasn't planed, but I'm happy how it turned out
Thank you so much for providing such stunning reference picture! [link] Make sure to check out his gallery, André is an amazing wildlife photographer!!!!
This is now the scanned version of it, which shows the actual colours quite good. I had to scan it in 8 parts and then put together again, I only have an A4 scanner.
It's acrylic on canvas, 50cm x 70cm (approx. 20inch x 30inch)
Acrylic on canvas, 90cm x 90cm (ca. 36 x 36 inch)
This picture is part of our photography/painting project, we now have a website for it: www.bosmansandhahn.com ---> [link]
The goal is to do exhibitions that combines photography and paintings, and try to collect money for wildlife projects through the sale of postcards and prints. This year is dedicated to tigers, because 2010 is the Chinese year of the tiger....
If you can spare some money, please support us, lot's of those wildlife parks do amazing work and they run mainly on charity, so every little bit will help them - Animals like tigers won't survive in the wild if it wasn't for wildlife sanctuaries! And those maxi postcards we have look STUNNING, they are great as presents as well and they are not expensive!!! We have not many left, if you want some, don't think twice.
We are still at the very beginning with the project, and I'm not the fastest when it comes to painting, but it will grow steadily, so stay tuned for more....
Aw, thank you! Yes, it looks *so much* better in real life! The colours are much more vibrant, in comparison the scan looks very dull. Shame, on the internet artwork always looses so much of it's quality.
I'm in love with your colour choice/composition, here. The expressive, loose brushwork serves as a beautiful frame for the finely rendered subject. And there is a sense of movement to said subject as well, like he/she is in the midst of turning round, perhaps because he/she is pacing. Absolutely gorgeous.
