Nightwatch, detail by Heliocyan Nightwatch, detail by Heliocyan
Due to the heavy snowfall I didn't need to go to work today, so I finally had the time to scan the "Nightwatch" tiger. :) The full view is quite big, so that you can see the details better... have a full view look at his eyes!

The rest of the day I spent outside, building a huge snowman with the neighbours kids! ;)

This is a detail view of:

This is a GREAT painting, I'm an oil painter and really enjoy the refinements of your colors.
How do you make good scans of large paintings, this is still an open problem to me ?

Thank you very much!!

I have only a normal size A4 scanner, I scan it in parts. This one is scanned in 16 parts, and later put together in Photoshop. That takes a long time, and you need someone helping you holding the picture in place, but the effort is worth it, especially if you like to print the pictures at some point. :)

If you have to buy a scanner, make sure you get a model where you can remove the top, otherwise you can't scan the middle.

I find scanning is the best way to preserve all the details, it just doesn't work with taking photographs I found out....

I especially like the attention you pt in the eyes on this piece. I would say your intention was for them to really stand out. :)

Yes, that's something I have learned in the photography course in uni: you look automatically at eyes first. So if you take a photo (and the same rules for paintings as well) make sure the eyes are in focus and show the most detail, for maximum impact...

I love the composition! The depth of field reminds my a little bit of my Zebra I did.

I too did a tiger that just had some real vibrant colors to it similar to your pieces, it just pops! nice work!
